If you haven't seen the movie or don't care about it then go away and don't read this.
So..I loved it! Definitely not nearly as good as the book, but that's to be expected. A lot was cut out but that's to be expected also..the book is packed, there's no way everything could be included. I thought the new director did a really good job. He picked a theme from the book and stuck to it and dropped everything else..which kind of sucks if you were hoping to see everything...but that's what the book is for I guess. When I talk about the things he missed I'm not whining..I realize it's neccessary..I'm just reviewing it. So on to random things about the movie!
Things I liked
-The kids! Their acting has improved so much! They all did a really good job and I liked the way they played their characters with more conviction, like they really meant the things they were saying and weren't just reading lines.
-Harry's the cutest thing ever!
-They did a really good job on Buckbeak
-I liked the little things they added to the time turning thing, like Hermione throwing the rocks..it was all trippy and cool.
-Ron having a nightmare and Harry saying "You tell those spiders, Ron"
-The cute little tension between Ron and Hermione.
-Lupin. When I saw they actor I was like "what? that's not him", but he actually did a good job and fit quite nicely.
-The whomping willow seemed to have a personality..it was amusing
-Just the whole movie (tee hee).
Things I missed from the book/things that were changed/things I wondered about and random observations
-The set changed a lot! The Hogwarts grounds are soo different! I think it mostly looks pretty cool..though it's a little overly hilly.
-The whole background of the Marauders Map was left out! They didn't say anything about Sirius, Remus, James and Peter and their history..they didn't tell you who had what nickname. They never showed the connection between James being Prongs and Harry's patronus taking that shape. They never said anything about the whomping willow being planted for Lupin..they barely even expressed the fact that Sirius and James were friends..and they were best friends! And they didn't talk about the friends almost getting Snape killed.
-The third book is so cool because of the twist..you're shocked when you find out about Scabbers being Peter and Peter being the one at fault. In the movie they didn't make it seem as cool and twisty.
-I know they can't do everything..but there was almost no classroom stuff.
-Almost no quidditch!
-Why isn't Draco's hair slicked back anymore?
-Who the heck was that random Slytherin kid when they were in Hogsmeade and Harry was throwing snowballs at them.
-Why was Draco crying when Hermione was threatening him with her wand? I highly doubt he would cry over that
-They really cut up the Hogsmeade visits..but not a big deal. No butter beer though.
-The gave him the Firebolt at the end..it was like they just threw it in.
-Did you ever see Oliver Wood? I don't think so.
Things I wasn't fond of
-The new Dumbledore. He's not horrible or anyting.. he just doesn't have much charm. Although I did like the part at the end where he's like "did what?" That was very Dumbledor-ish.
-Um..why did the Dementors fly? And why were their heads so gigantic? But more importantly..what was with that sucking they did to everyone's faces? I know they were like sucking up happiness or whatever..but it just looked sort of dumb
-The end..hehe..that was just dumb..with Harry whizzing by on his broomstick and then sort of freezing with this retarded face
That said..I loved it, I thought it was fantastic and I want to see it again :)
