Vampire Diaries = Kills me in almost every episode.
This one was no exception.
I never really liked Damon and Rose together (maybe a chemistry thing?) but I loved their last scene and Ian's acting had a lot to do with it, I think. His decision to kill her and take her pain away was really hard and I teared up at the sight of his trembling hands grabbing the stake. Elena is always very comforting and wants to believe that Damon has feelings but I didn't like the moment when he said that it should have been him and she replied "you feel guilty" with a small amount of relief in her voice. Of course he feels guilty and even if he acts like a real bastard most of the times, we all know there's humanity in him. The hug helped me forget about that part and I so wanted to see Damon hugging her back and cry on her shoulder. But I guess he didn't want to show any weakness in front of her.
Damon's break down made feel for him even more. He just needed to speak to someone. It seems to me that he killed that girl in the end not only because he wants to convince himself that he embraces his nature but because he envy people. He said it himself that he misses being human more than anything.
I would like more Damon/Stefan scenes in this episode and generally more Stefan but the epy worked well without him, too. Damon/Elena make me crazy sometimes, can't wait to see what's going to happen next. I NEED a Delena kiss in the last episode of this season!!
