is it possible to build up an immunity to mosquito bites??!?! please tell me that eventually these things will leave me the fuck alone or that my body will stop reacting. I can't take this much longer

tbqh, i think you might be able to. i grew up in minnesota and it was mosquito central. when my boyfriend and i went camping here in washington the other weekend he had more bites on his elbow than i did on my entire body.
drew is like this!! when we moved into our first apartment together the carpet had fleas from the previous tenant. I was eaten alive and he didn't have a SINGLEEEE bite.
we spent a week at the lake earlier this month. [actually, I spent a week. he spent about 4 days.] he was outside waaay more than I was, shirtless and wearing shorts, and only got 3-4 bug bites. I had TWENTY something just on my legs and I wore pants the entire time. :/
I've always been a bug magnet but it's never been such a long, drawn out exposure. I hope you're right, haha.
yeah it was super weird.. like, he was the one that was up and moving around and cooking/putting up the tent and stuff and i was just sitting there in shorts not moving.. but they were ALL over him.
i made it a really big point the first night to stand in the smoke of the fire though, and that really helps. we also had to get some bug repellent but that really didn't seem to help him, but it made it so they wouldn't even land on me at all. i even sprayed him over like three times. he looks awful :(
citronella candles, yard guard, and bug spray are your friends. also don't wear any perfume or body splash when you are going to be outside. even scented deodorant will attract them. I learned that from many many years of summer camp at the lake. and obviously, dump out any standing water. don't let water collect in the saucers under plants or leave a dog water dish out or anything. you can't keep them from laying eggs in the big bodies of water, but you can keep them from laying eggs on your patio.
I think we'll have to check into the yard guard. the only thing, though, is that there are these "woods" directly behind our deck and I'm not too keen on trodding around through there spraying stuff, haha. the candles and bug spray would help for the longer periods of time we're outside, but I get eaten up in the 5 minutes it takes me to take chloe out to potty. we take her down to the grass [we have a really high deck..] and by the time the citronella got down there I think we'd be ready to go back in. :/ and I don't think I could stand smelling like bug spray all day, haha. and no body splash, but I do wear scented deodorant. stupid bugs ruining my outside time and making me smell like a walking camp site. :(
