When I told my dad I was going to a book signing at Vroman's yesterday,  he quipped,  "Yours,  or someone else's? "  (Ha,  ha.)   When I told my sister that lisayee  asked all the authors present to stand for a picture,  and I did so a bit sheepishly (the others were published book authors,  after all),  she informed me,  "You're an author,  too!"   Okay

Me, too. :>) I always enjoy author signings, especially at independent bookstores.

Maybe I'll get to join that "inner sanctum" someday.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun! Yay! I know what you mean about "being in their orbit" - that's how I felt on Saturday sitting with the presenters at the conference that Kate was presenting at. A little fly on the wall, soaking up "publishing rays." Aaaah!

I think everybody had a good time. But, yeah, I do feel like I'm not at their level yet.

I'm glad you like working with Kate. (She turned me down over a year ago...:>)

Sometimes I don't think it's a matter of not being at their level - it's just that outward evidence of author-ship (i.e. a published book) validates the fact that we already are authors. (I'm pretty sure it's an inside job!)

I'm sorry Kate didn't think you guys were a good match. :( I feel very fortunate that she loves my book.

Well, I did some revising on mine, partly because of her comments. So I'll see if that helps.

Yeah, I noticed a difference in Jay Asher, for one, after his book came out. I met him at Writer's Day when he just had an ARC, and he was still a little shy and nervous. :>)

All I can say (for now)is, thank heaven for Highlights magazine! They give me some cred, at least.
