Crazy Weird Retro Asian House: The Second Look

Jul 09, 2009 11:46

We went and looked at weird asian house.

I don’t think Kelli liked it as much as I did and Tanner liked it more than me. But the place is just… well… weird. Its very very dated, the design so very late 70’s. From the paper on the walls, the retro mirrors everywhere (holy crap there’s mirrors EVERYWHERE), bizarre colors, the carved wooden trip in most rooms, an indoor bar-b-q, carpeted bathrooms, and a bar in every other room. But, its HUGE. The main floor has a foyer, den, kitchen with breakfast area, dining room (that looks like a retro dance floor), a dining/sunny sitting room, a sun room with a deck; a laundry/BBQ room connects to a bedroom with side room that connects to another deck. Then the floor also has two bed rooms that go out onto the covered pool area, a large bath, and the master suite up a short steps which has a small walk in closet, water closet, Jacuzzi bath tub that’s in the same room area as the bed would go and this balcony that overlooks the pool. Then down stairs is another den with a sports bar area and tons of storage in the back area of the three garages (you could put 2 cars in each garage just about and still have room).

Its just…well, weird. I forgot my camera, but the place is gonna need work. First things that would be a must before the move in: tile two bathrooms near the tub, replace oven and stove, replace 2-3 windows, clean pool. Then it would be project after project to update the place. But it has so much potential to turn it into one awesome home. Sure, years and years before it’d be up to where we want it, but it has the bones and meat for what we want. She just needs a face lift, lipo, tanning booth, and a wardrobe overhaul.

I’m going Friday to talk to the bank to see if this would even be possible. I’m still pondering it over a lot…. Constantly. Kelli is gonna think it over more too. I’ll probably call up our old agent and see if we can get a second look over soon too. We also cruised the neighborhood and again, it looks like it’s the upper end of Goldwire/Wanonah area (there’s nicer houses on the same street, nice cars but not over the top, etc).

Of course, there’s the inspections to be had if we can come up with enough loans. Wish us luck that the best outcome is had, one way or another.

Oh, and this is the house, btw: www.realtysouth.com/Listing/ListingDetail.aspx
