stuffed stocking

Everyone else is doing it...

For me, gifts should have functionality and utility. That is, they have a definite function that they perform, and will actually be utilized. Knick-knacks that I appreciate are rare. (I never buy souvenirs.) I appreciate the sentiment behind them, but I don't want the clutter. I can clutter well enough on my own without help.

  • Lots of "necessaries" that I haven't bothered to buy for myself: dress shirts, jeans, work shoes, socks.
  • 1599 Geneva Bible, the one from Tolle Lege Press. If this had been my only gift, I would have been very happy.
  • 4 CDs, all oldies of various sorts. Doo-wop, 60s girl groups, old-time gospel.
  • Apple t-shirt.
  • LCD monitor.
  • Gadsden flag.
  • Renewal for my single subscription, and a subscription to Readers Digest, too.
  • 3 penguin-related items.

I think that's it.

My parents were in town last weekend, and it was a good visit. Between that and our own Christmas cooking, we are stuffed to the gills with leftovers. We have to store desserts and beverages on a shelf in the garage because our refrigerators are full.
