What is the problem exactly?

We’ve discussed my lack of fashion sense. I won’t go into it again. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’m not a fan of belts. I've got this whole mental block against belts. I’m short wasted and boxy in the torso region. I’m squishy so I go out of my way to avoid having to tuck in a shirt. When a shirt comes with a tie. Off to the trash ( Read more... )

I'm actually going to guess that a lower neckline would be good with the belt. Your yesterday outfit is totally va-voom with that scoopy neck and the drapey necklaces, but I think the higher neck on today's shirt doesn't play as nicely with your chest and/or the belt. Or perhaps trying the necklaces to create the v neck like bauhausfrau mentions, with the white shirt + belt? A supportive bra helps...I can always tell when it's time to replace mine because my clothes all start looking horribly frumpy and I feel tubbier than usual. New bra, et voila! Magically look slimmer and feel badass!

Nothing to add to these two very good comments other than your hair looks fantastic!

So, I'm clueless about fashion, too, and still on the fence about the whole belt thing (I think you and I may have similar body types, hah!), but you ROCKED that blue shirt and stripey skirt outfit. I loved it.

Okay, I'm going to be the squeaky wheel and say that I liked the skinny belt better. But I hardly ever wear belts either, so I really don't know what I'm talking about.

But Dayum! You totally nailed that look from yesterday!

Going off points you and others have already said - you need a much better fitting bra. One of the issues is that the wide belt is automatically making the "eye" divide you up - forcing the focus to go from the belt to your bust. Unfortunately, when you have the belt high, it means there is nothing between the belt and your neck except your bust, giving the "BOP" (boobs on a platter) look. When it's at your natural waist, you are still divided but in equal amounts which forces the eye to demand symmetry between the two halves. Since there is none, it again looks off ( ... )
