So I'm hearing a disturbing rumour over Yahoo IM right now. After that paedophile Karr case down in Thailand last year, the government is cracking down on foreign teachers, getting rid of the bad eggs. Now, that much is good. The problem for China seems to be that the standards of acceptance are set low because of the demand. If Chinese employers are looking to make some money, they're probably going to be lax about their standards. On the other hand, it doesn't make the Firm look good when you consider some of the utterly unsuitable people who have been here since that began. If the people who deal with the recruitment of foreigners in foreign countries can't get it right, what hope is there for the Chinese to weed out the bad 'uns?

Let's hope that if we do start getting Thailand's rejects that their numbers and impact are minimal; their departure swift and unlamented.

But hopefully, this is just some rumour.
