I found this to be an insightful treatment of the topic: Is There Anything Good About Men?

I agree with a lot of it, but not all of it. Yes, there might be some research that suggests that more men are workaholics, BUT even the highest ranking professional women still also do more housework than men. Also, women are shown to be more perfection oriented than men. I also think that a lot of the premises for evolutionary psychology are really flawed, giving us the kind of biases we see in this piece.

However, I do agree with the assessment of men's roles. I think a lot of that stuff gets short shrift in very generalist discussions of gender. Of course people in my field tend to take a more nuanced view of this area.

My question is, though, if I'm hornier than most women, should I be making more money?

Ah, this is rather silly... I arrived at lindseykuper's journal from a Google search for the name of a Fitocracy achievement, and then wandered to your journal from a comment, and you looked like a kindred spirit who occasionally posts something I'd enjoy reading.

Perhaps I should have just quoted the part of it I particularly appreciated. Certainly there are claims in there I don't care to defend, and a decidedly non-rigorous, acausal way of describing group selection. But then, it's a speech from one psychologist to another, not an article in a genetics journal ( ... )
