Rise of the Eldrazi Prerelease tournament

I was still debating whether to go to the Rise of the Eldrazi prerelease tournament while lying in bed at 9:30 am (doors opened at 9). I don't think it's particularly unreasonable to lose to a new card from not knowing exactly what it does. Yeah, we all read the cards, but everyone is bound to make a mistake like that at some point ( ... )

That does sound rather frustrating. Must've been a real kick to your rating, too! Overconfidence can be deadly. I'm glad I'm not a soldier.

Unlike in Yakima, I have many opportunities to raise my ranking, since Dream Wizards has some very good players (e.g., one of the columnists on DailyMTG). If only you lived here! :)

Well, it was a release event, so there's only so much damage that can be done. Probably 6 points at an 8k event.

That's cool. Which one? Looking back at my history of events at some point, I found out I had beaten one of the Seattle pros at the Urza's Destiny prerelease, possibly before he got good. Don't know how old he was or anything.
