The wireless router for my computer isn't working and I'm scared of calling tech-support b/c they're probably going to be evil robots. Not that I don't like evil robots...I just don't want to talk to one about my router woes. So anyway, I'm using my roommate's computer. YIP!
Part One: Work
Second City is pretty good. The job is not super, and the pay is crap, but the people are great! I've met a lot of interesting and fun people there.
I don't think I'll be at BBW much longer. The company keeps cutting back the labor hours for our store and so I've not been getting enough hours recently. The manager said she's looking to promote me in Feb, but it would still be a part time job and I really need full-time. I put in an application for a baggage handler's position with Southwest and Rachel's supposed to be getting me an application for some job with United. Also I had a couple interviews with Target and they even sent me for a drug test (the results should be in tomorrow or the next day) so I'm pretty sure they'll be offering me a job. Unfortunately it's a reeeeaaally long commute and I just don't know how worth it it would be for just a job at Target. I'm pretty confused about what I want to do work-wise right now. It's so weird now I get these flash realizations like "Holy crap! I'm an adult now. This is my life....this is what I'm doing as a 'grown-up.'" Or "Holy Crap! I live in Chicago."
Part Two: Social
Christmas was fun. I went to a nice party at my friend Alison's house. We played board games, ate until we were sick, drank awful "christmas tree" shots that Alison's friend Matt was really excited to make, listened to the story of Hanuka and lit a menorah.
New Years was pretty nice too. At the late-night show at Second City we passed out hats, champagne, and noise-makers (never give drunk, old, rich people noise-makers). Then there was a count-down and a stupid skit with "Baby New Year" (a fat man in a diaper...eewwww). So work was pretty fun, and then once the customers left we all hung around drinking and dancing and being merry. At one point someone came out and yelled something about Baby New Year making a brief appearance, then this girl who's in one of the shows ran through the bar in just a diaper. It was pretty funny. After that I went out for breakfast with a guy I like from work and then we went to a total dive bar and then he walked me to the train and gave me a kiss woo woo. And that was New Year's.
Weird friend mingling has been happening recently. Like I went to this bar with Rachel and her friends (who are super fun btw) and there was bluegrass music and tamales and it was great. But then the next week people from my work wanted me to go to the same deal and I was like hmm, that's weird. And then Rachel is a a fan/friend of this local band called the
The Detholtz! and she wanted to go see this movie "
Why Sould the Devil Have All the Good Music?" That featured the Detholtz! and I was all like "OMG! That's crazy. One of my managers from Second City made that movie!"
And now that I'm taking an improv class, I keep seeing people around town that I recognize, and it's weird and I think "Hmm, I thought this sort of thing only happened in small cities."
I'm very much missing all my friends in far-away land. I really wanna meet Jack's cute little baby, Kiah. And I want to see my mom's new house and say hi to all my family. And I want to meet this guy who seems to think he's worthy of Chelsea (and make sure he's freaking awesome enough for her.) I want to see Amanda and Susan and Tyler and Dan-Dan and everyone.
Part Three: Home life
I'm hardly ever in my apartment. When I am there though, I enjoy listening to records on my
Record Player. It's big and ugly and awesome and it's the best Christmas present I've ever bought for myself haha.
Rachel Gave me a notebook with a zebra on it that says "YIP!" hahah.
The living room floor is COVERED in packing peanuts.
Please come visit me. I'm lonely.
OK, shower time.
