seeing as i'm under the influence of rent right now (and the fumes from sharpies), i'm going to try something that i don't remember ever trying to do before that will be corny, so watch out. i'm going to
so at this precise time last year (well, technically the one year anniversary is tuesday night) was the time when the the su crew clicked. it was the night we solidified as a group during a dinner at kimmel. it was snowing, and dianna tried to teach us how to sing "jingle bells" in ukrainian. i also specifically remember phil describing the lake effect snowflakes as being "the size of postage stamps."
before break really got started, i went to florida for the first time ever, and thus my first disney park. space mountain = freakin awesom. i remember walking through the hotel lobby with katy and singing (more like yelling) "happy birthday" into her speaker phone as we left hans his birthday voicemail.
during break, i saw part of the clinton crew, which was great. the other part of the group, i was missing quite alot. it was quite happy when we got to talk to laura and kathleen via phone for a few minutes during the secret santa party at beast's house. we had a lot of trouble with the amount of time we had on the phone cards and all talking at once seeins as we were on speaker phone. other fond memories of break include running around the "clinton perfomring arts center" with brenda (we managed to find our way to the roof - it was awesome!) and getting to walk around clinton with nora. i was glad to catch a few basketball games of j's too, seeing as (just like the first semester last year) i never made it to any field hockey games cause i'm a bad kid.
the next semester flew by. it started out with abby and i rocking law 1114 (with frequent visits from jonny!). things that stand out immediately include sitting up with phil during his rsa shifts, sledding with the crew and talking to the lonely DPS cop, seeing movies, everyone surprising me by going to the spaghetti warehouse for my birthday, wong's "ode," getting our rooming assignments for this semester, going to cornell to watch abby compete in the a cappella competition, going to the diner, tech in music ed with dr. coggiola (and all of the aggravation/hilarity that that class provided), su kids coming to see the musical during spring break, dinner's at wong and lauralong's houses, and so much more that it'd be horrible if i listed everything. it was a great semester though.
summer started with me going down to visit heather adair in mexico! it was my first time every flying alone and my bank account hated me afterwards, but the hug i got at the airport made everything worth it. summer continued with me being lucky enough to work at the job i had - i was doing something i enjoyed and was around great people (except the guy who yelled at us to turn down the "queen" cd we were blaring). i was incredibly glad to hang around my family for a while. major highlights were definitely when the first-year-now-second-year kids got to start welcoming home all of the rotarians! the party the night after kathleen got home, the surprise party for heather a., going to syracuse to see "the island" and do henna tattoos in the airport and eventually surprising laura when she got home. seeing everyone at gatherings afterwards were amazing in the sense that everyone finally got themselves home! this is why i'm excited about christmas break - the clinton crew will be in full force again!
of course, i missed the syracuse crew a bunch, but i was lucky enough to see them often-ish (not really often, but a few times). severe awesomeness was experiences at jonny's revue, second show when i met up with wong first, abby's party, and the times when jonny and laura came to clinton.
this semester: what a freaking whirlwind. if i'm measuring it in love, i must say that it's been a good time. it was a bit rocky during the time when we were all deciding where/with whom we were going to live with next year, but that's stuff that's all dead and gone and i'm really psyched to move into our houses later this summer. i feel that the su crew is still going strong. the biggest change about this semester is that i feel that everyone, for the most part, is closer. there seemed to be two "groups" last in our year last year - the marching band kids and the non-marching band kids. for the first part of last year i hung out with strictly the former (except for abby, who's just that cool). the second semester i got really close with the crew i'm with now and didn't see much of my friends from first semester (abby and katy being the only two exceptions).
but this semester i feel that the lines that "defined" the two groups last year have faded a bit. and while we all have our good friends, i feel that everyone in our year at crouse is closer this year (particularly the music ed majors, since those are the people i see the most). maybe my perceptions are skewed and this isn't true, but it'd be great if it was. eventhough i've loathed barbara tagg this semester, i'm so glad that i was in a group with greg, john, and andrea. those kids (plus the fact that we had a good host teacher) were what made the weight of field experience bearable
whew. that was the best i could do without having to have a book published about it. much love to everyone and if i don't see you, happy holidays!
in other news, i'm sure that the fact that i've never seen this movie surprises no one:
You scored as Maximus. After his family was murdered by the evil emperor Commodus, the great Roman general Maximus went into hiding to avoid Commodus's assassins. He became a gladiator, hoping to dominate the colosseum in order to one day get the chance of killing Commodus. Maximus is valiant, courageous, and dedicated. He wants nothing more than the chance to avenge his family, but his temper often gets the better of him.

QuizFarm.com in other other news: my parents are coming up today to bring me a coat since i didn't have one. woo!
the week from hell (which is diffrent than the 4 weeks of hell we had earlier this semester) is over, and this coming week will be so much easier. sure i'll be nervous for finals, particularly both of my juries but i'm pretty well prepared for both of those. so i've got stuff (neuro, foundations and my sax jury) on monday, tuesday (flute jury, written sax final), nothing on wednesday, perhaps a job interview for next semester on thursday, and two tests on friday (theory and history). this is awesome because it leaves me a bunch of time to hang out with friends, especially those who're going to be severely missed while they're abroad in strausbourg next semester, so that time will be well-spent.
the parents just called, so cleaning my room is now in order. much love, kids. to the ones i see everyday, more love : ) to the ones i'll see soon, i'm psyched!
cheers!
