The infuriating thing is that most "techies" are not even remotely autistic, they are just weird. It's not too surprising that a reporter for computerworld might not exactly understand a conversation between two geeks being composed as it is mainly of usenet memes from 10 years ago, futurama quotes, and arguments about whether BSD or SysV init scripts are better - but that doesn't make them diseased.

The geeks would be just as lost at the literature department holiday party of the local university, but we haven't invented a disease label to account for the fact that some people read Foucault and Irigary and write papers with words like "discursive" and "neo-dialectical" in them. Perhaps one is needed, though.
