Chain Reaction was awesome and got me my bike back _before_ my ride on sunday! So, ok I've done >< training for the past two weeks on the bike. At least it's .... mostly flat? only 2k verticle feet. So I'm really glad everyone convinced me to take Azura into the shop from whence she came. Turns out that the carbon fork cracked where it was bonded to the aluminium steerer. I am really, really glad I found this out from the bike mech rather than a fork failure during a 35mph+ descent on the santa cruz mountains challenge next month. For those of ( Read more... )

so, update on the Bike-Carport collision. I located the origin of the hideous creaking I had been experiancing post-impact. The seatclamp was previously hollow aluminium pre-impact. Post impact it was solid. So i had to get a new seatpost. fwiw, i've road at least 60 miles post impact w/out noticing any issues aside from creaking while in saddle ( Read more... )

If I didn't have a problem with my headset, I do now. Especailly after, with bike attached to the roof-rack, I drove into the carport. Which was lower than the height of the bike. There is house paint on my saddle and the vetta was 10 ft in front of car when I finally stopped the car due to this hideous creaking noise. The rack came off one side of ( Read more... )

I replaced (both) my brake cables. And my brakes. We'll see if the "brake flex" or "squirrellyness" or "stopping not soon enough" goes away. There's also a mysterioso creak coming from the headset. But emtel doesn't acutally think it's the headset. We have noticed that the headset spacers are out of alingment so maybe that's the issue or the stem. ( Read more... )

I've been really, really upset with the current attack on civil liberties in congress. The most recent thing is Diana DeGette's proposal which "says that any Internet service that 'enables users to access content' must permanently retain records".
