Try swimming. I have rhumatoid arthritis and I'm well over 300, and it's fantastic exercise for me. I can get to the point where I am out of breath and it seems almost effortless.

Ah, I'm sorry...it was the only exercise I could find to do myself. :/ I can swim rather cheaply though, I live in the UK and use the city pool.

What meds are you on for your fibro symptoms? Also, if you're regularly seeing a doctor for your fibro, you may be able to get a reduced rate at the YMCA due to your disability.

Actually...you're in the Houston area, right? You might want to check out the Membership For All program to see if you're eligible.

wow. I just got confirmed Friday, and I still have yet to see an orthopedic (medicaid isnt accepted at pain management clinics anywhere near here.) He gave me Flexeril, and hydrocodone until then. I looked at that ymca page and saved the apps to print and take tomorrow...thanks!!

I'd say water aerobics although you have pool issues...they have great aerobics classes at the YMCA

If you can't do the Y because of cost, look into some pool-based physical or occupational therapy. You might be able to get the insurance to cover it that way. Once you start to get moving, and get on a good medication regimen you might be able to figure out some cheaper exercise routines that work for you.
