So it's apparently the season for dudes to slaughter their families on my block. Last weekend was the dude down the block who shot his baby mama and little kids in the face. This weekend is the big manhunt for the dude a block or two over who killed his baby mama, their two year old, his other baby mama and their other two year old. Classy

Since I'm coming back to visit, I can't accept that the whole town has gone to the dogs, as there's still many friendly neighborhoods. But with the postdoc finishing up, switching to renting would be a decent idea even without the newsworthy motivations.

True indeed. In Seattle's case, it's really not normal for unstable people to murder police officers, but it is entirely normal for us students to get an automated alert about someone being mugged in the University District. The troubling part about the latter is that it's happening at increasingly "normal" hours of the day. : (

(I hadn't taken crime into account when I chose to live on the Hill instead of the U-District, but I'm very glad of my choice...)
