The Air Force is currently pulling 4-6 month tours downrange, and the active Army is pulling anywhere from 4-12 month tours depending on unit. All of the Reserve and NG units I've seen have been in the area less frequently, but for longer periods of time, most at 18 months.

Of course, things might change by next week, and we might pull out tomorrow, but you and I both know that NG and Reserve units deploy.

I've looked at all worst case scenerios, and none of them really bother me honestly, even being deployed overseas or to war. I have prior military experience so it's nothing new to me.

Many people I know from high school went in to the military. I would have, if I could have. I’ve been unfit for service since I was 6 years old. That whole you need binocular vision and objective lenses gets in the way.
I would not liken service in the NG to a one weekend vacation from your regular job.
Nor would I say it’s not worth doing. Just know what you’re getting in to. It’s not for everybody.

Of course it's not for everybody. I can deal with it though I'm sure. Already have prior military experience, plus raised in a military family, my father being retired Army officer and a Vietnam veteran.

I can’t say I know much about your family. I did know your were in the Navy. When I said know what you’re getting in too. I was mainly inferring things like stop loss orders and things that mess with individual time in service and unit deployment times. I’m sure you can endure what you need to. What advantages do the Reserves or the NG offer for you directly? If you’re primary incentive is more money are their alternates that offer the money with out the time investment?
