That you can count on either party to screw things up. Republicans tend to screw things up in a manner susceptible to being fixed. Democrats tend to screw things up in a more permanent way.

Unfortunately, the last 10 years have born this theory out.

Republicans:
- GWOT? Check
- Iraq? Check
- The mortgage meltdown? Check
- tax cuts for the rich ( Read more... )

I totally agree with, as well as your ultimate opinion of DiFi.

Its your contention (echoes of John Ringo's lesser works, where all the villains are libruhl, and all the heroes are Conservative) that the GOP are somehow less damaging that the Democrats with which I very much disagree. I'm not defending Obama or the Dems, I'm condemning the GOP to the same level of venality, corruption, and incompetence.

My contention is that the Dem's, based on a lifetime's worth of demonstrable examples, seem to be more interested in fundamentally changing the system. The Republicans, in contrast, are more interested in being venal and corrupt.

How else do you explain the Great Society vs. the Reagan tax cuts?
