I often fail to recognize and understand my fellow Christians as well. Sometimes, I fail to recognize the Christian in myself, and question things…
But you have to remember, no matter what it seems like, there ARE Christians out there who are not afraid of homosexuals, who are trying to take things to court rooms, who are feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless.
As a Christian, it is your (our?) job to look past the bad things (even if they come from “fellow Christians”), and pick out the good things… Often, you’re forced to pick out the good, IN the bad.
I know, for myself at least, that one of the most difficult things is accepting those Christians who come to church so they can have the “title” of church-goers, do-gooder, Christian.
For every sad, depressing story you hear, you can go out and find an equally good one. The bad certainly has more media attention, and seems to come out more, but it is worth it to look for the good.
