I always used to have conversations and debates with the monks, who were cool people when it comes to religion or even just to talk to. I remember a particularly interesting conversation about Euthanasia... and it was always about just discussion and real tolerance. In fact, from what I recall, Buddhism is totally cool with you practicing other religions while also being a Buddhist...and after that makes sense because its true like you said, it's kind of a religion and kind of a philosophy.
Man I'm bored here at work.

Yeah, the author of this book said that when he was ordained as a buddhist monk, his teacher warned him against referring to himself as a buddhist.
It's interesting how it blends so well with other cultures, religions, and philosophies.
What is also interesting is the (so far as I know from my limited access on the subject) history of non-violence... or perhaps the absence of violence from their history. *shrug* It's an anecdote I don't quite have time for.

All this stuff is really interesting. I find it so much more enthralling than christianity...

And yeah, there is very, very little history of violence in Buddhism, if any at all. Unlike other religions which have stipulations about crusades, jihads, or other "holy wars", Buddhism doesn't condone violent behavior to accomplish anything.
It's some cool stuff, no lie y0z.
