Point 1 - the very same bastards who whined and cried, "Oh, we were too stupid to run our businesses properly, but if we fail, America will be ruined! Please give us some money, please, nice Mr. Government," and GOT the damned money, now are lobbying to defeat legislation that will make it easier for employees to form labor unions. In one comment, Bernie Marcus, one of the founders of Home Depot claimed that any businessman who wasn't giving money to (former Minnesota senator ) Norm Coleman, or who wasn't giving money to help stop this legislation, " they should be shot. They should be thrown out their goddamn jobs." He called the potential passage of this bill "the demise of a civilization," and that it would make us "like France."
First, I find it disgusting that bastards who include among their number people who have taken government bailout money, then DEMONIZE socialism. YOU JUST BENEFITED FROM IT, YOU MOTHER %^&^^%$$^RS!!!
Second, while I am not so naive as to think that labor unions are all wonderful, idealistic people whose only concern is the well-being of the proletariat, I think a lot of these bastards wouldn't have to worry about labor unions if they just treated their workers in a fair and equitable manner. There are businesses out there who do it. Making it harder for workers to organize sounds like mandating corporate serfdom - "Just shut the ^%#$ up and do what we tell you, proles." I'd rather make it easy for workers to organize, promote better employee relation practices in big business, and come up with regulation/legislation to prevent the worst excesses of organized labor.
Third, if this corporate brain trust can't keep blunt talk like this out of the Huffington Post? They need to shut up and be thankful they've done as well as they have.
Point 2 - The Big Three auto manufacturers, after a wonderful holiday display of grovelling for money from Uncle Sam, are now banding together to sue a number of states who are trying to enact stricter air quality/fuel efficiency standards. When they were begging for money, they were asked by Congress if they were going to continue fighting states in court who tried to push for greater fuel efficiency. In short, would the auto industry take taxpayer money to sue the taxpayers? They ducked the issue, and Congress didn't push it. Big news - they are suing the states.
Bastard sons-of-#%#%^^$%s!!! You take our money, and then spend millions fighting us when we're trying to IMPROVE HEALTH AND PRESERVE OUR BIOSPHERE! Oh, I'm sorry, Big Three - you're fighting so hard to stay afloat (solely in the interest of the American people, I'm sure), that you would rather spend millions on lawsuits, than on making fuel-efficient, energy efficient cars. Gotta keep those costs down, right? Thick-headed idiot scumbags.
Point 3 - (and this is the BIG one) - Found out today that the FDA has known (SINCE 2005!!!) that High Fructose Corn Syrup contains high levels of mercury.
I know, you're probably all sick to death of me blasting high fructose corn syrup. I don't care. The stuff is a horror, and is part of big business trying to make money by taking ACTUAL food, breaking it down into molecules, and then recombining it to make "food." Read how HFCS is made. Sound tasty? If you drink soda, or almost any soft drink (iced tea, for example), and if you eat any kind of processed food (chips, crackers, flavored nuts, soups, any kind of prepared dinner or mix), you are getting this in your diet. Now with mercury!
AND THE FDA &^%$%^$ING KNEW ABOUT IT! FOR THREE YEARS!!!
I thought the FDA existed to promote public health and safety? Dammit, I want a full investigation of this! I want to know why the American public was not told, and why this information is just coming to light now. I want to know why the people involved in this aren't being fired, and why they aren't being prosecuted for criminal negligence! This is insane. Are we just sheep? Do we only exist to be customers to business? Are we ^%$^ing krill, floating around waiting for another whale to come along and turn us into poop?
