I completely understand how the return home can completely backfire. I pretty much did the same thing. I came home to Seattle thinking I had a ton of friends still here, and then realized that I wasn't actually interested in hanging out with most of them. Now the few that I actually want to hang out with are either still on vacation, back at school, sick, or working full time with no time for me.
I have spent extraordinary amounts of time sober, suburban, and with my dogs as company. Which isn't too bad, actually, (particularly the dog part, and even the sober part) but not really what I want right now.
