David and I are thinking of going to Hawaii for a week at the end of March for our birthdays. I've never been there before, and I know some of you guys have. Any suggestions on things to do, places to say, stuff to avoid?
jwg and I spent about a week on Kauai in 1998. We didn't visit any of the other islands, but I'll say that just about all of Kauai is beautiful (although we did get some rain every day we were there, but never for very long at a time).
We stayed in a lesbian-owned B & B in the northeast corner, whose name I could probably summon up if necessary (of course, I don't know if it's still there or still uner the same ownership). It was lovely, and very friendly.
The clarity of the water was just amazing. If you do go to Kauai and you're at all into snorkelling, check out Poipu on the south shore, and Tunnels Beach in the northwest. You just walk out a little way on the reef and stick your face in the water, and there are brightly-colored fish everywhere.
Thanks Robert. It looks like we'll probably be going to Oahu and Hawaii instead or Kauai. We do want to go snorkeling, I hope we have as great a time as you did!
