A/N: My first ever one-shot :)
It's been years. Years since he last smiled confidently. Years since he first shed his first love tears. Years since his heart got broken. For Sungmin, it felt like it was just yesterday.
He never really got the reason why his lover left him. Did he do something wrong? Was he being to clingy? Nobody knows. Not even Sungmin.
~
Sungmin was walking into a new flower shop down the block. He hated flowers. He doesn't hate it for a stupid reason, it's just that he wasn't fond of them. His mom was allergic to flowers so he never got attached to it.
This particular flower shop attracted Sungmin so much. It was almost like the flower shop was telling him to step inside. The outside's design was plain. It was nothing special. It's just, well, NEW. Sungmin went inside and immediately, a little girl, whose age was probably about seven years-old, bumped into him. Then, a beautiful lady came.
"Yah! Cho MinSung, you're not suppose to be running around the store. I'm sorry sir. My daughter is very energetic," the lady said.
"Oh it's okay. I'm pretty sure she didn't mean to bump into me." Sungmin replied while flashing a charming smile at the little girl named MinSung.
"Do you need help with something? Any particular flower that you like?" The lady asked. Sungmin stared at his surroundings. There were different types of flowers. He can't actually name them. In fact, he can't name one flower. Just as he was about to speak again, a tall man came from the back.
"Hey honey where do you want me to put these daisies?" The tall man asked his beautiful wife without looking at her.
"Put them next to the sunflowers." His wife replied.
"Ok--" the tall guy stopped talking. He looked at the guy beside his wife. He knows that face. That cute, angelic face. Those eyes that can melt anyone. That shiny black hair that can attract anyone to touch it.
Sungmin on the other hand, stared at the guy near the counter too. It's him. The one he loves. The one his heart looks for. The one that his brain always thinks of. It's him. It's Cho Kyuhyun.
After a long time of staring, Kyuhyun decided to break the silence.
"Hey Minnie. Long time no see." Sungmin froze. He didn't know how to respond to that. The guy called him by his nickname when they were together. He was the only one who called him that. Sungmin just went with the flow and replied with a simple 'Hi'.
"Oh so you're the famous 'Minnie'? I've heard so much about you from Kyuhyun. Well I'll leave you two alone so you guys can catch up. MinSung come here! Do you wanna get some ice cream sweetie?" Kyuhyun's wife said as she took their daughter outside to the ice cream store next door. Sungmin and Kyuhyun didn't really talk after they left. They stood there for a couple of minutes just staring at their surroundings. But once again, Sungmin decided to break the silence.
"So how've you been? I see you got married. Your daughter is so pretty. Your wife is pretty." Sungmin stopped. His voice was shaking. Was he gonna cry? No, not now.
"Haha I guess they're both pretty. My daughter got her looks from my wife. My life has been, how should I say it, pretty nice too. How are you? You have girlfriend? Wife? Just roaming around the world? Still carefree? How's your parents? I thought you hated flowers. Why are you in here?" Kyuhyun bombarded Sungmin with questions. Sungmin didn't know how to answer all of these. He just stood there bewildered at the fact that Kyuhyun sounded so concerned. Unknowingly, a tear fell from Sungmin's eyes. Kyuhyun rushed to Sungmin's side and immediately wiped the tear away. Kyuhyun held Sungmin by his waist and guided him to a chair.
"I'm...I'm...sorry. I just can't control it. I...I...well...I miss you Kyu. I miss you. So much." Sungmin confessed. His breathing became uneven now. Kyuhyun patted him on the back.
"Minnie. Sungmin. Do you...-" Kyuhyun stopped and stared at the other man. He missed this person too. More than the other could ever know. But life is tough. This is life. Quickly, he pressed their lips together. Sweetly. Gently. Calmly. Kyuhyun broke the kiss, then asked...
"Do you still love me?" Sungmin nodded.
"You shouldn't. You were suppose to move on. Just like what I did. Sungmin, what we had, it was love. I know it was love. But we were never meant to be. You know why? Because were bound to go our separate ways. Ever wonder why I left you after college? You started to focus on something else. Something else that made you happy. And that was not me. It was your dream. Your dream of becoming a singer. I was holding you back. While we were in college, you were asked to perform at one of the best concert halls with one of the best singer in the world for 5 months. When you came back, you were different. Very different. In fact, you found it. You found your happiness. When I first met my wife, I was broken. She helped me, Minnie. She took care of me. I learned how to love her." Kyuhyun paused for a while to take a look at the sobbing man on the chair. Then Sungmin looked up at Kyuhyun.
*SMACK*
There was a great pain on Kyuhyun's left cheek. He slapped him. Sungmin slapped Kyuhyun.
"HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT?! HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT MY HAPPINESS IS MY DREAM?! WHY DO YOU EVEN THINK I WENT WITH THE MUSICIAN? IT'S TO MAKE YOU PROUD KYU! TO MAKE YOU PROUD! YOU WERE ALWAYS THERE FOR ME! WHEN YOU LEFT, when you left, I...a part of me died. Like I don't even know why I started this in the first place. It was you. It was always you who I wanted to impress. But you gave up on me after 5 months. Is 5 months that long? You couldn't wait for me to adjust back to the way we were?" Sungmin retorted.
With that, Kyuhyun kissed him again. This time, roughly. Deeper. Powerful. Lustful. After a few minutes, Kyuhyun broke the kiss.
"Is this a proper goodbye? I couldn't really move on until I got an explanation from you. I don't wanna get in between you and your wife. I just wanted you to know that I've always loved you. Should I move on now, Kyu? Should I love someone else now?" Sungmin asked as he slowly got up the chair.
"Yeah. You should've move on 13 years ago. You'll find someone better than me. Maybe not because I'm the best there could ever be. Haha. But in all seriousness Minnie, you know you'll always be a part of me right? You'll always be in my heart. Maybe not as a lover, but one of the best things that ever happened in my life. You're my best friend." With that, Sungmin left the shop with a big smile on his face.
Finally, he can move on. His heart can finally rest from the painful heartache he had 13 years ago. He still can't believe it. He waited 13 years. 13 long years. 13 long years is what it took for him to forget; to move on from his first love.
As he was turning a corner, he bumped into a girl.
He flashed his charming smile. The girl reciprocated the smile with her own charming smile.
That, is the start of something new.
Deep down, in his heart, he knows, Kyuhyun knows, they will love each other forever. Maybe not in this lifetime. But definitely in the next one. Sungmin will definitely not let Kyuhyun go next time.
