So, I've got an apt with my trainer in 30 minutes at the gym. I've been going to the gym pretty regularly for the past year and a half now but really focusing during the last 6 months.
I totally agree. I was always a chunky kid and now I'm filling out and I'm feeling so much better. I'm totally in this mode of missing the gym when I don't go. I'm constantly trying to find ways to go. Like you, I didn't want to lose a bunch of weight but replace it with muscle. But as I've been at this more and really looking at my body, I'm not really built to be the brick shithouse that I admire in other guys. I (seem to anyway) have a long body and it wants to naturally be on the lean side. I keep telling my trainer that I want to be stockier, but he doesn't agree. He thinks I would be better suited to be leaner. We'll see. But basically, I'm saying to be open to what happens and know that your direction can change.
I've been getting into working out lately as well. I've been working with a trainer for a while and it makes a big difference, although I was getting kind of sick of it for a while until we started focusing on lifting heavy stuff. I love that! I need to do more yoga and lots more cardio. I hate cardio. I think I'd be more into it via a class. What gym do you go to?
I agree. I love my trainer. I know it's a luxury, but it's a matter of the price I put on my health. I've had about 3 different trainers now and Regan is by far the best. I told him how you deadlifted over 300lbs. He said, "yeah, you could do that." giggle. I've been doing yoga on Saturdays at Allstar downtown. That's also where they have the boxing classes. I do spin either downtown or in W.Sea. Outside of that, the only cardio I do is either run or cycle and I prefer running. Rowing/crew is also great cardio. Just find something you like. I also want to see if I can get Jim to go hiking or something.
