Christian-no, I know it's not that simple and certainly relationships are built on many different factors. To your last point-my bf. We've been together for 16 years and we've never had that "chemical/animal" connection and to be honest we are quite opposite to each other. But we fit with each other like two pieces to a puzzle. It's odd. I can't imagine not being with him yet "on paper", we really shouldn't be together but yet we work together.
Bob and I are the same, almost 20 years together but even from day 1 we didn't have that animal connection that I have with some other guys. I think that's why we've lasted so long tho, we've done well as warm embers continuing to burn instead of a hot flame that fizzles quickly.
Do you ever "think" about this? I mean, I sometimes wish that we had that "burning desire" for each other (and I know Jim wishes we did) but ultimately, I know we don't but I don't feel like my relationship is lacking from it. Hell, it's been 16 f*cking years!
There are people that I like and 'click' with, there are people that I find sexy/attractive, and then there are certain people that I feel some sort of deep, animal instinct towards no matter how fucked up or perfect, unattainable or easy they might be. Some of these 'chemical attractions' have resulted in the most satisfy "itch scratches" I've ever indulged in. And others have been the most annoying unrequited obsessions!
Keith-totally agree. I mean, I'm hardly making any amazing realizations here, just a fun observation, but it's true. There are people that I connect with in ways that maybe don't really make sense and I find that kind of fun. Just in that it shows I can still surprise myself after all these years. Plus, those "animal" connections can be sooooooooooo fun.
I agree. There have been men who I just clicked with. Some men just look, taste and smell delicious to me. Doesn't happen often but when it does, watch out! lol
