Genre: fluff
Pairing: masamiya and a little maotsujun.
A/N: it's my first time writing a masamiya fic, so forgive me and I cannot stop myself from adding a little maotsujun XD thought about this when i was watching 'the little mermaid' LOL
Ninomiya Kazunari was afraid, is very afraid of the water and hated summer. Just thinking about what happened to him when he was just eight sent shivers down his spine. It was supposed to be a happy occasion, every child always looks forward to spending some time in a pool during summer. He did enjoy it until some kid accidentally pushes him down on the pool when he was not wearing his arm floats. He almost drowned and died that day if his neighbor Masami-chan wasn’t around.
She had saved him and he owe it all to her. That was one summer he would never ever forget since it seemed like his first life ended right there and second, because that was when he had developed a little crush at his neighbor. For years he had opted to stay at home; read mangas and play video games than go out with his friends. He’s been doing that for the past ten years, so, why was he standing at the edge of the pool with nothing on but his newly bought boardshorts?
His head bent down and he kept on gulping. Nino did try to stop his hands from shaking but failed miserably once he stepped out of the changing room and saw the Olympic size pool in front of him that is owned by Sho, his childhood friend. His friends knowing that traumatic story of his were surprised when he suddenly blurted out that he wanted to join them. They did ask him why but he only shrugged his shoulders and told them that he needed to face his fears.
Fears my ass. The only reason why he was joining them was because a little bird a.ka Jun who had become his spy informed him that Masami, his Masami-chan who he hasn't seen for a year was also tagging along. She just came back and was only there for a couple of days to spend her summer with her family before going back to the city to continue her studies. He was devastated when he learned that she chose to study in Tokyo instead of staying with her family, with him.
Everybody seems to know his admiration towards Masami but the girl doesn’t seem to notice it. It was a one-sided-puppy-love. Mind you, he did try to confess on the day when she was about to leave for Tokyo but was stopped by her oh-so-nosy-twin-sister, Mao, telling him that he’ll just make it hard for her to leave. He did follow her and saved his confession. But he couldn’t wait any longer, his feelings for her would burst any moment if he’ll continue to keep it to himself.
“Nino!” He was suddenly awaken by that oh-so-lovely-voice that seemed music to his ears. His eyes snapped open and searches for the owner of that voice. He found her at the other side of the pool waving her hand at him with her twin swimming beside her giving him her deadly look.
He smiled and waved back at her not minding her twin who was frowning at him. He was too mesmerized at the sight of her clad in her favorite white bikini that he lifted his right foot up, intending to get near her. It was already too late for him to pull his foot back when he felt it touch the water. Before he knew it he was already submerged on the water catching his breath. He kept on wiggling and wiggling his legs and arms trying his best to save himself.
Not again. He mentally told himself as he struggles to stay up. He does not want to die yet, he’s just too young. He haven’t completed his task of confessing. He just couldn't waste his second life without confessing to Masami-chan. His legs were starting to feel limp and he’s getting tired. This might be the end and he needed to let her know how he feels for her. So, before completely losing his strength he took a deep breath and shouted.
“Aishiteru, Masami-chan!”
He closes his eyes and decided to stop moving. At least he was able to let her know. “Nino-kun!” Do angels have the same voice as hers? He heard his name being called and realized that he can breathe once again. “Are you okay?” He opens his eyes and saw Masami in front of her. She was actually too close, her face was only a few centimeters apart from him and then the unexpected finally happened.
She leans closer, making her lips touch his and after a minute or two they finally stops and took a breathe. “Am I alive?” he mutters, his eyes never leaving her face. Their moment was suddenly interrupted when an inflatable dolphin was thrown at them.
“Yes, you are, so stop clinging like an octopus at Maasami, will you?” Mao the-nosy-twin, shouted at them. He then realizes that his arms and legs are wrapped around Maasami’s body, he does look like an octopus. He quickly apologizes and sheepishly smiles at her. For the second time he was rescued by her again.
“Aishiteru.” she softly says and before he can say the same thing they heard a splash not far from them.
“Mao-chan, I can’t swim!” shouted Jun who started acting like he was drowning.
“Who are you kidding? You’re a member of our school’s swimming club, Matsumoto!” Mao replied before stomping her feet as she marches toward her boyfriend’s direction.
Masami chuckles then looks back at him. “You want to get off the water now?” she asks knowing how scared he was earlier. He shook his head and moves to touch her face. “I think I’d like to stay here a little longer.”
“Not scared of the water anymore?” Masami smirks and Nino pull himself closer at her, not that he wasn’t close enough already. “Not when you’re here. ” He huskily says as he took a dip at her lips. He’d definitely enjoy and love his summer from now on.
