Still pregnant...

May be a bit TMI for those who are eating while reading this, etc.

So, yesterday was the first day in several months that I haven't felt like snacking at 9:30 a.m. and I also didn't have much of an appetite all day. I was feeling a little woozy and nauseous. I also had noticed at 6:30 a.m. that my bowels were making quite a bit more noise than what has been the norm of late - so I knew something a bit more loose was on the way (late that afternoon, in fact).

I went in for my Dr.'s appointment and told him about it - yup - that's a good sign that my body is getting ready for labor. I asked him - should we check to see where I'm at? It doesn't make a difference, technically, because I could have been dilated to a 2 or 3 for the past several weeks, but I had some hope since I had felt some quick tightenings earlier in the day. He recommended that we check, and also that we try sweeping/stripping my membranes, to see if we could get things moving along. Since I'm getting horribly uncomfortable, the Braxton-Hicks contractions are getting more frequent (although nothing regular yet), the sleeping is almost non-existant, and I know someone who had it done and said it worked for her - by the same doctor as well - I agreed.

When he checked, however, my cervix was still way too far above my pelvic bones to tell anything other than it's soft. The baby IS head-down still, which is also a good thing, but he's "floating", which means that his head is not engaged in my pelvis. So, no having my membranes swept either. Like he's saying, "Sorry, Mom, no peeking! You'll just have to wait!".

So the long and short of it is - if baby turns breech (and he said I'll feel it if baby's trying to - boy will I feel it!), or if my water breaks (which then would probably be a big GUSH rather than a trickle), I need to get into the hospital PRONTO. Both of these things should be pretty rare, but I need to pay attention, just in case.

The good news though is that my due date is only a few days away now, and my doctor thinks I'll go into labor sometime in the next 2 weeks, probably sooner than later.

I am SO ready to have this baby.

...crossing my fingers and toes and trying all the "how to get labor started" tricks that I dare...
