XM Radio vs Sirius

Jan 26, 2008 19:52

The wife and I are contemplating the wonderful world of Satellite Radio, due to the rapidly diminishing quality of Atlanta radio. It's simply going to come down to content, because price is the same. I know some of you folks out there have opinions on this, so bring 'em on. :)
Thanks!

I don't know what's going to happen when they merge, but I've had both and I like Sirius MUCH better. Some of the content is the same or similar, but Sirius has a little more extensive playlists and less repeat and I like their variety much better. And Sirius is really and truly commercial free. I had XM when some of their stations went Clear Channel and started playing commercials and it pissed me off. Sirius has none of that.

I have to agree with my wife here. I've had XM for years, and while I still much prefer it vs any of the local land-based stations in Atlanta, Sirius' music selections seem to be better.

But to be honest, it's a matter of taste preference. I like XM for their "Techno" stations, as well as their decades and Hockey coverage.

Either way you go, I think you'll be happy. :)

Good luck!

So Sirius for us it is. I went ahead and signed up for a year to get a free month and no activation fee (although it still showed up on checkout. GRRR. I'll hassle them about that later). So we'll see!!

Thanks guys for your input. I think I'm leaning toward Sirius at the moment. XM seemed to have a lot more sports on their list, etc.

I also like the idea of not losing the station when we're traveling places. :)
