people always ask if i'm okay because i'm always so quiet. if i feel fine or don't want to talk about whatever's bothering me, i just tell them i'm fine, or tired, or not feeling like talking. i don't ever go into other stuff with people unless we have the sort of relationship where i'd talk about it naturally. sometimes if someone i don't know well persists after the initial response, i'll give them more information, but in general i try to avoid oversharing.

that said, she asked, and you shared what you were comfortable with. if she wasn't comfortable, it's her responsibility to tell you so.
