ZOMG I want your rhizomes! Irises of course ^_~ those are AWESOME! Never seen that color combination before.

Btw i'm taking a survey on cameras and need some advices. I was looking at this nice one, but i'm not sure if this would be overkill or a nice starter.

*nods* I researched the hell outta my cameras before I made a decision - I'm all about the research!
Personally, I prefer Canons, but that's probably because I've always used a Canon. The new Canon XSI is very nice, but a bit pricey, but in purchasing a DSLR, they usually recommend to go with the nicest glass you can afford - so it's really the lenses you'll have to make big decisions about.
Having said that - I have a friend down here who upgraded to the Nikon D50 last year and didn't like it because she didn't feel that it took sharp enough pics. She ended up selling it and getting a Canon 40D instead.
If you can, get down to an actual camera store to get a feel for what feels comfortable in your hand. Some stores also have a store model that you can rent to try out - that's an even better option.
Let me know what you decide to get!

I read this as soon as I saw it pop up. I did end up going with the Nikon D40. The pictures so far look amazing and I'm still testing out the settings and reading thru the "bible" that came with it. The comparable Canon felt way heavier than the Nikon did for some reason and it was a bit bulkier too. They seemd about the same from what i could tell with my naked eye on the screens when i was testing them out. It did feel a little awkward but nothing I couldn't get used to.
I WAS looking for the Nikon D40x but they weren't selling them in the store any more. Oh well. I DID however get an extra 200mm lens for 50% because I got the Nikon kit instead. So not only did I get the initial lens but I got an EXTRA one at a ridiculously awesome price. I about fainted. I couldn't believe it because I was drooling over all the ridiculous equipment.
I'm taking up real estate so read le post

Muchas Gracias on the advice though and I can tell you Fool will be the one with the new Canon soon as that's his baby!
