I haven't done any yard work this weekend, since all the things I wanted to trim are all wet and that's no fun:(. Last weekend I trimmed and weeded and spread more compost on some of the beds. I have more to do, but things are getting a little bit neater.
I cleared my rose/butterfly bush bed. The yarrow and hollyhock blooms had faded and it was time to cut them back. I discovered that there were new yarrow growing and the portulaca in the rock garden next to the bed had a few blooms.
I cleared the weeds from around my russian sage and put some compost down. This is an example of what I want to do with the whole front yard, to make the edges neater and the plants stand out more.
More of my tomatoes are ripening, plus I picked my first red bell pepper off and split it,to eat.
I have a hardy fuchsia planted by the front walkway. Every year I think it's dead and gone ,yet every year it shows a few blooms. I have thought about transplanting it to a better place (less crowded) , but not sure where and how it will handle it.
and here is my friend, a neighborhood cat who has "adopted" our house. She is getting fed somewhere (not by us) but had kittens here once (under our bay window), and shows up regularly to stretch out on the grass or on the front porch to sun herself. She came out an kept me company (from a distance) for a little while when I was working.
