well, you are not the first person to experience this. Apparently Americans are not as open-minded, well-travelled and well-knowledged as we imagine them to be

To be honest, there is a little streak of anti-semitism in me, especially towards bimbotic sounding people...

Precisely...although as time passes, I've also learnt to become less harsh with Americans and their ignorance. Although many Americans are ignorant about a lot of things - most of them are never quite shy about it...it's ok not to know and make mistakes...though that's still not an excuse! It's certainly better than being standoffish and arrogant like most of the French students!
