What you don't know can't baffle you or something

Ripped from lurker_of_note who probably got it off some geezer down the pub who is in cahoots with Mundungus...

The problem with Livejournal is that we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. Hence, I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no ( Read more... )

Ah, quite a popular meme on LJ. I think I did try this one as well. :)
So, quite a mundane question but I really would like to know about it: what are your three favourite songs? :)

Only three? Oh no! cicatrix_alba May 26 2009, 10:01:03 UTC
I could have a different three for every hour of the day. So, okay, for this hour only, and in no special order:

1.) Heroes (David Bowie)
2.) Australia (The Shins)
3.) Blue Orchid (The White Stripes)

And, if I could sneak in a 4th and 5th...

4.) Catherine Wheels (Crowded House...Neil, I'd have your babies, just say the word)
5.) Play It Strange (Split Enz)

I'd need at least 100 to even scratch the surface. I watched Top of The Pops from the age of 3 and was deadly serious about it even in nappies.

Oooh, I adore 'Better Be Home Soon' and 'Don't Dream It's Over' as well as Neil's acoustic version of 'Throw Your Arms Around Me'.

*seconds motion to have Neil's babies*

I adore almost the whole CH repertoire...I was a CH fanatic back in the day. And, IMHO, Wee Neilee's version of 'Throw Your Arms Around Me' beats Hunters & Collectors hands *down*. I almost put 'World Where You Live' in my list instead. I remember seeing them in 1992, in Aberdeen, and this was the song they opened with. It was awesome. My legs wobbled.

If I can find it, I'll post a pic I have...an old woman who was a friend of mine in Te Awamutu had sons who were friends with Neil as a kid, and I have a birthday party pic somewhere from when he was about 8 or 9? He looks *exactly* the same :D

Yours is amazing! Mine is Catherine.

My favourite part of any day is the bit when I get to talk to Virginie.

My eyes are blue with an slim outer ring of grey...kind of a Remus/Sirius hybrid (I like to think...)

'Poker, you.

Would you rather: live to be 300 but have the body of a 70-year-old or live to be 100 but have the body of a 25-year-old? Why?

I'd rather have lived to be 25 and had the body of a 300-year-old. Since I am now 33 with the body of a 300-year-old, I'm not so chuffed about it.

...and I'm not sure answers of this kind are proper, but I have been intermittently suicidal since the age of 6 or 7, for, I assure you, excellent reasons. And 25 was when my hero (Wilfred Owen) died, so I always had that in my mind as the right age to go.

Since I have promised to live, I am trying to keep my promise.

Tell me, are you a vegetarian?

I *was* a hardcore veggie for at least 7 years during my twenties, but I cracked one Christmas when there was bacon on the go, and I never recovered. (Eternal Shame)

No, no eternal shame necessary; I'm very similar in this regard. I've been eating meat again the last year after a decade without.

*Deep sighs of relief*. It took a long time for my tastebuds to re-adjust, I do admit. Some foods (tuna, for some reason, especially) almost blew my head off for many months. However, I'd never go back.

Biggest regret? What are you most proud of?

Biggest regret? Being alive and having to stay that way because someone loves me. That's a selfish regret. Biggest regret about the rest of life? Not knowing my grandmother for longer. Again - selfish-ish. Biggest other regret? Being cruel to someone very lovely 10 years ago, and losing her.

What am I most proud of? I am not proud of anything about myself. I am immensely proud of Virginie, her talents, and her immense, glowing spirit. She surprises me daily and she is a treasure.

I think most regrets are selfish, but that's human nature.

And I think you have to be proud that there is something inherently good about you that attracted Virginie, and that you are interesting and loving (otherwise she'd have run a mile).

Yes? *frowns admonishingly*

That is *not* something for me to decide, frankly. All I can say is that I am eternally grateful there is something in me that she does think is worthwhile. I'll spend the rest of my life trying to deserve her.
