It is a somewhat idle thought, but I wonder if the lack of substantial wildlife outside the city walls means anything? I cannot seem to recall having seen any animals -- save a bird, once. The city itself has been established as abandoned, but -- under natural circumstances, the fields and forest should not have been affected, I think ( Read more... )

There's no wildlife? That's a shame... it looks like a nice forest...

What battle? ... Please don't tell me it has to do with that blemish on the sky.

...Sorry, I'm new here.

Ah, not at all -- welcome to Nuadoria?

I'm not quite sure if it was exactly a battle, but outside the city perimeters, in the field, there are several ancient remains of war -- weapons, armor, bones. It's unclear as to whether that was what caused this city to be abandoned or not, but it may mean something in the end, I think.

Thanks, I think. I'm beginning to feel like this isn't a place one can be welcomed to.

And, huh. Well, if the fight comes back...

Haha, it does take some time to adjust to this city, I'm afraid.

But the people here have pulled through so far -- so perhaps it will be possible to keep on going.

Hahi..? Now that Haru thinks about it, she hasn't seen any animals since she got here!

This is.. really creepy!

Haha, I've just realized, myself -- it doesn't seem to be something substantially noticeable, unless one thinks about it.

No animals...

This place is really damn weird. But, even a battle shouldn't have wiped the wildlife. They're usually smarter than that to get caught in it and would return when the danger was over...

...right?

That is certainly true, which is why I wonder whether the cause of the city's abandonment was something other than a battle -- perhaps a natural disaster of some sort?

-- although the pristine state of the city suggests otherwise.

...Do you think it could have been a sickness or some sort?

-but there aren't any bodies and no one left to clean up...so I guess that wouldn't make sense, either, huh?

Unless it were a disease that decomposes a body entirely, that also sounds a bit unlikely, doesn't it?

...What? Battle? Destruction?

Ah -- I apologize, it must be a jarring matter for those who are new to the city.

Outside the city perimeters, there are ancient remains of a battle scattered about the fields -- which I, and some others, might have guessed was the reason this city was abandoned. However, it seems as if that may not necessarily have been the case.

J-just a little bit, yeah.

...If it was abandoned, why are we stuck here? This is like...SCIENCE FICTION. ONLY REAL.

Haha, I suppose one could put it like that -- the situation does take some time to get used to. And I'm afraid that question is one of many that have yet to be answered.

Now you mention it... I have seen no forms of wildlife, either. Not a bird in the sky.

Curious.

I must admit that the single bird I've seen in the forest also seemed out of place -- perhaps an unfortunate one that ended up here by the same method that we have. It's strange to see the fields and trees so empty.

Strange, and quiet. Perhaps the ocean, then. It's possible there are some manner of fish dwelling there, is it not?

That sounds like a reasonable possibility -- if marine life were still present, I suppose that would mean whatever wiped out the city and animals were only a land phenomenon.
