Every college student knows that sense of loss from the first time they get to go back home. You know your dorm isn't home, but suddenly, neither is the place you've called home for however long before you left for college. Before I came here to Philadelphia, I called one place home for 14 years ( Read more... )

Never apologize for your entries, because they're yours.

Besides which, your sentiments were wonderfully expressed. I think I'm just kind of dead on this sort of stuff, or amazingly adaptable (or something else less flattering), but honestly it never bothered me that much. I did call my dorm "home" when I was back at home though, and my sister called me on it. :p The truth is I don't consider any physical place home. I've felt like I was home when I was all the way out in California living in my friend's house. I guess it's just where ever I feel very comfortable.^^;

Er, that had nothing to do with anything.^^; I really liked the image of your tiny closet of extra blankets though. I've always wanted to have that kind of connection with a place (like I've always wanted to be connected to a stuffed animal--mentioned that on Monday in the bookstore^^); I feel like I'm missing out on something special.

You flatter me :)
I wish I could adapt as well as that. It generates so much misery when you can't adjust. I don't think that you're missing out on something *special*. You experience it too, just in different ways. That feeling you had when you were in California? That's the "something special." Imagine not being sure if you'll ever feel that way again regardless of where you go. The place is just a backdrop. It's the way you feel that matters.

When I was 9, my stupid Korean erm uncle (grandma's younger brother's son) gave me a box of jellies filled with rum and whiskey.

Mom has me chewing ginseng candy. They're disgusting, but ridiculously expensive. I feel bad throwing them away.

Well, that uncle person is just a stupid mother fucker. He's forty and he still can't think for himself. He's an only-son so his family raised him on a floating satin pillow--made all the decisions for him all his life.

And Mom thinks it's going to help with my overall health--not that I'm not healthy. I don't get it.

Technically, Glendale is north of LAX, too.

Anyway, where do you think you'll live after school?

After school, I will live somewhere in or near L.A. proper. Definitely in an L.A. county.
I have no clue about where things are in L.A. I thought Dad used to drive south to get to LAX. My mistake.

They are all over the place in Lancaster. They're kinda creepy looking in the evenings.
