I wanted Barbies when I was a little girl. I didn't see the cheap fabric, the plastic shoes that Barbie couldn't even stand on, the gaudy use of glitter, the fact that Barbie was closer anatomically to a typical wasp than a woman. That's the first of the only two Nancy Drew books I ever owned (and the other was from the later stuff, which I didn't like as much), though I read them a lot too. Good choice. =)

I had the first 12 in order, but the rest I got through the library. Well, not all of them, but a lot of them.

Costco started selling them in packs of four so I got the 13-16 pack. I started reading them for fun, but I just couldn't do it. I like the idea of Nancy Drew, but I guess I'm too old for it now. It was a very sad day.

Nice post! I used to be a huge Nancy Drew fan and have a couple of them stowed somewhere back home. But when I tried to read it last year, I found myself scoffing at how archaic and quaint the whole thing was. I can still read it, though!
