I don't think it's just Korea, but also other Asian countries, and to some extent, Australia and Europe too. What would you prefer to see in Korean soap operas instead? I mean, what IS real Korean modern culture?

The thing that bothers me is the willingness on the part of Korea.
And my problem is that there is no such thing as Korean modern culture as an independent entity. The only reason why this rant didn't sound more pissed off is that there are still historical dramas on television. But in terms of its modern stuff? Nothing.

Oooh, they called me a twinkie. Haha :)
It's rather sad.

I feel guilty for not taking more time to know about my own history, but at least there's a part of me that wants to, instead of embracing the Korean pseudo culture that's going around. I refuse to believe that it has anything to do with 'roots.'

I wonder--have the Korean sitcoms changed much recently? The last time I watched, they were still going on about poor little orphan girls with lots of grit who make it in the end by marrying handsome, rich men with good families.

It's fine--says so right in my intro page.

And don't take the ycw thing personally. They like to have fun with applicants. I wonder why I didn't say, "we."

I found you through donttouchmyhat7's journal. I hope it's alright if I add you. I promise not to squee too much.

Also, that picture of Britney Spears is very scary. And what happened to her pinky? Did they cut it off?

No, I'm always flattered by adds. You applied to ycw recently, did you not?

Haha, I didn't even notice that, what with her fake tan blinding me.

Who is "they"? Korean mob? Commies?

Yes I did, but we don't want to remember that, it belongs to the past. Or rather, I learned from the experience. Which is the whole point, I suppose.

Probably her team of stylists. They thought it would look cuter, no doubt.
