AMC urges moviegoers not to enjoy themselves while watching Wicked
Wicked fans issued warning by theaters ahead of release
In a short Wicked-themed preshow advisory video, AMC says: “At AMC Theaters, silence is golden. No talking. No texting. No singing. No wailing. No Flirting. And absolutely no name-calling. Enjoy the magic of movies.”
Wrong approach for something like that, especially in light of the fact that most fans say that the songs are the best part about it.
Nope, instead, the movie should have been made in a manner which encourages the audience to sing along with any songs they were prone to sing along with on Broadway as that's the sort of thing which will really draw folks in for a shared experience.
After all, the core, possibly mostly exclusive audience to this movie, are the folks who enjoyed the play, which means that the majority are going to be disappointed, not happy that they've been told they can't sing along to the songs they sang along to on Broadway.
Ah well, not my problem and not a movie I care about so if they want to encourage it to fail, that's all them.
