I've been laid off. It turns out it takes several boxes to contain all the crap that built up in my office over three and a half years of employment

Well... Poop. Having done the laid off thing in the past, I can empathize with the suckness of the situation. Hope your leads pay off, and you can consider the whole severance thing as bonus.
