The dog decided that in the absence of Christine, I was the bestest person ever
Friday:
Work was all about flailing over inconsistent behavior between servers with seemingly identical files
I went to the Derby Dolls match, which kicked ass (more on that in its own post)
The dog continued to think I was the best person ever
I don't think I'm just projecting my neediness onto her
I do think I'm sensitive to her neediness because I'm needy too
Rocky:
I showed up late, but I wasn't signed up for anything anyway, so I didn't feel too bad
Amanda's Trixie kicked ass and she is adorable
I happily took over the operation of the spotlight, as it is actually my favorite tech role (though I still prefer performing)
Saturday:
I drove up to Temecula to get my truck looked at on the cheap
All three belts were dying
I don't know enough about cars to feel good about changing them myself
I traded a little manual labor in the garden for getting Christine's stepdad to fix the truck
I really needed to get this done this weekend, as I was pretty afraid of losing a belt on the way to or from War
I felt bad about not helping Durwood move, but I'll hope to make it up to him with a gift of booze in the future
I went to Amanda's performance at 8teen
I was way underdressed, in t-shirt and shorts, while others were all decked out in their steampunk finery
One woman had a top hat with lacing on the front and back and rivets around the top edge, and I eventually admitted to her that I kept staring because I loved her hat beyond reason
I wore my "Ask me about my conspiracy theories" shirt and people actually did, which surprised me
I saw a lot of people I recognized to varying levels, beyond the Rocky folk I expected to be there
If I weren't socially awkward, I might have talked to more of them
Jess painted during the performance, which complemented the music nicely
If I do the steampunk thing in the future, I'm thinking I should be sure to include steampunk kneepads
I'd probably make them out of existing plastic kneepads with a pseudo-brass or leather covering
Wishful thinking, since I'm not very crafty, but I might get inspired sometime
The contact juggler guy who sets the band on stage and winds them up tries hard, but I hope he develops more charisma in the future
I also hope he develops better contact juggling skills, if that's going to be his shtick
It was funny to see him move through the crowd, since he was using both hands on his balls and nobody was going to hear "excuse me" over the music, so he ended up pretty much shouldering people out of his way like a very slow Derby Doll
Sunday:
I picked up Christine from the airport (though I ran a little late)
We saw Star Trek, which was indeed good, though I don't need to see it again until it comes out on Blu-Ray
The dog got into our discarded In & Out bag
She's never gone for the trash before
Clearly, the lure of In & Out is greater than that of all other trash, which isn't so surprising when I think about it
I went in to work for a few late-night hours to make up for the time I missed on Thursday
It was all in vain, since I still didn't figure out the header difficulties that were vexing me on Friday, but at least I can be more honest on the time sheet
