PBS is the only place where parents can guarantee that their children won't be targeted by disgusting advertising promoting harsh, concrete gender roles and stereotypes or an extreme consumer lifestyle. Have you really paid attention to commercials for children? They're disturbing. Some parents prefer that their children watch programming that is both free of these ads, and is educational.
This is only a first step. The plan is to cut all funding. NPR and PBS are pretty much the only public forums available. If they disappear, then the only news sources will be corporately owned ones, i.e. completely interest controlled programming. The only public forum we'll have left will be public access T.V. Hurrah.
Which children commercials are disgusting or disturbing? I really can't think of any. The only ones I can remember are all cute. Commercials are disturbing in general, if that's what you meant, but they are the way for TV shows to survive. Who's gonna hand them money for free? I believe there are many things that money should be spent besides those shows, even though they mean a lot to some people.
It's good to have good shows for children to watch, but those shows just have so save themselves. Commercials are a part of life and kids need to learn to live with that. And in my opinion, if the kids are so young and innocent that they could be targetted by commercials, then they shouldn't be watching the TV alone without parents to teach them about harsh, concrete gender roles and stereotypes or an extreme consumer lifestyle.
I'm having a naked lady party this evening if you'd like to come. It starts..... pretty much whenever people show up for it. You're also welcome to bring guests, as long as they're female. My address is 4402 SE knapp (the 75 goes to 45th and knapp if you're bussing). Hope to see you! -Rosalind
I thought you had died and dropped off the planet like me.. But wait, here we are.
I hope you are well, would like to see/talk/anything of the sort with you. Julie said that your family had moved, so I ruled out calling you. Things have changed so much, I would just love to catch up.
