I'm a perpetual optimist

That's very much like me. I do have my moods, but I don't believe I've ever written of them in my journal cos it usually ends up blowing over quite nicely. I'm more often than not in a wickedly fine mood. But I find you're right, there is reason and rhyme to everything and whatever hardship one endures is temporary.
