bosses who insist on swimming next to you on your one day away from them in the week should be banned from the pool. My muscles are killing from my vague attempt to pace him, or at least to keep from falling more than one length behind. I hope none of the old ladies who swim at lunchtime have good enough goggles to see the double-fisted middle ( Read more... )

yeah, absolutely...I live in dread of running into some famous female academic in the changing rooms sometime! (I suppose it would be even worse to run into a male one, but that's less likely.) Don't ever go to Safeway, unless you really WANT to run into all your lecturers.

People who turbo-shark past you in the pool suck in general. I can only imagine how much worse it would be if it were your boss. :-(

Oh yeah, and the funny bit in the cardboard saga was then the other boss gave me this big approving smile for taking the horrid thing the long way - I guess he missed the fact that I hadn't been given a choice. Ah, the joy of multiple bosses (even though only one is technically 'the manager' and the other has no official title at all, as far as I know.) But life in a family business bears little resemblance to life in the professional world. It's probably most accurate when E and I refer to them as 'Mummy and Daddy Shopname' (sorry, just remembered I've made it a policy not to use the actual name since my journal is theoretically a public site). But I think the number one boss might murder us if he realised he was Mummy and not Daddy. Poor guy.
