Wasn't that the name of a country western song? It certainly colored the next phase of my life for a seemingly indefinite period of time. It was not something I'd ever imagined being a part of. Divorce, hospitalization for depression/suicidal thoughts, a new job, and a yearning to start living as a gay man... that's an awful lot to deal with all at once!

Thanks for being so honest in this essay. After reading, it's obvious what caused your depression ... Though Charlie and you are such as a strong couple and you are so loved by family and friends, some of this earlier self-doubt comes through ... These experiences have influenced the out and loving man you are ... I hope these essays will be part of the legacy you pass on to your children and grandchildren. You've lived an extraordinary life!

For all the tribulation, I bet you wouldn't trade your life for anyone else's. The sheer variety in your experiences of work and relationships and family makes you ever rich in the matters that count.
