I remember feeling rather disappointed when I wrote myself a note today to make sure I knew left from right in Japanese for a test tomorrow.

I just checked the note, and it says "Know left/white."

...I feel worse now. Not only can I not tell my left from my white, I am also unable to white notes properly.
