 OMG people!!!  Can somebody save me from well meaning relatives???

For some strange reason (really I'm baffled as to the reason) my relatives on both sides have now decided that I'm dating somebody, that its serious, and that me going off to AOKP things all the time is really a front for me to spend time with my boyfriend.  Which lead to 2 separate

My grandma pointed out that she'd be glad if I brought home a girl, but that she was glad I was attached to a boy at the moment.

Dude, this boy has lotsa 'splainin' to do about why I haven't been taken on any "real" dates recently.

Really I should. I haven't been wined and dined, no flowers or chocolates have been bestowed upon me, no sterotypiical date-like things have occurred. Sadness.

This is a romantic comedy waiting to happen.

Find someone to play your boyfriend for the family, with the understanding that he is to act like a total sleaze in front of them so that they are glad when you "dump" him. Maybe even pay him for the favor. Unfortunately, over the course of things, you and he fall in love, and have to figure out a way to convince the family to accept him after he's shown them what a prick he is.

It totally is!!! Sad how I never imagined that my life could be like a romantic comedy at all (except maybe as the galpal that must encourage/discourage the heroine).

That would be amusing. I can see my grandma now: Are you Jewish? No? Will you convert? What do you think of kids? I think she should be pregnant within 3 years, do you agree? Why do you want her pregnant right away, don't you think she should have a job and make money first? You think she's pretty? She should've had red hair, like her mother, don't you think she'd look better with red hair? What, you think she doesn't look good enough now?

As I stand there and die of mortification. I heard a version of ALL of those last night. For some reason she's always wanted a red headed granddaughter and was all excited when my dad married my mom that her wish would come true- she's been bitterly disappointed in my blonde hair ever since.
