The Flooding Worsens

Okay, so I was wrong.  The flooding that is happening in my mom's home town is really horrible and a matter to be taken very seriously.  My family left yesterday afternoon at about 3, maybe 3:30.  At that point, the water was up on 10th street (about a block away from my house to the left) and had completely flooded Airport Park, which is behind my ( Read more... )

We saw some destruction in New Hampshire from our May floods but I don't think there was anything as bad as I've seen in this recent flood. I think only one man died in our flood (which was the worst since 1936). Luckily for us, New Hampshire is still pretty wooded so the earth was able to absorb some of the rain.

Best of luck, I hope your mom's home is unharmed when you get back.

My thoughts are with you. I grew up/have family on the Jersey/Pennsylvania border, so I know the Delaware River well. There's a major river, the Lehigh, that joins the Delaware and forms a triange that defines the area. Both rivers have flooded, as far as I can tell from the news. It's weird to be over here and following the news from that corner of the world which I've pretty much ignored since I moved to New York.

Stay well.

Even though this is a horrible situation, its good to hear you and your family are safe. We've been getting flood pictures at work since National Grid has territory in New England and upstate NY. Granted they're mostly of substations and other electrical equipment that's partially underwater, but we've seen some bad pictures of highways being completely washed away.

I hope you guys stay safe and I also hope your house stays relatively dry!
