I saw this in passing when I came to check my flist, and decided to organise some choc pudding and a cup of tea to help distract me from my blushes. I really needed the accessories.
I'd be a very ungracious person not to be downright moved by your lovely, appreciative post. Thanks very much.
(And *you* found 'Performance Art' out there? I typed it one-handed, because I was busy peering through the fingers of the other hand muttering, 'I don't believe I'm writing this'...)
A love letter, indeed! That describes my feelings about your writing, exactly.
Of course, I woke up in a mild panic this morning, thinking, "The humor! You forgot to mention the humor--the way it isn't the narrator being funny, but the characters themselves displaying their own dry wit in the context of the story, which is part of that positive realism that you like so much!" But I guess it's okay to leave some of the wonderful discoveries for other readers to find on their own . . .
(Actually, if "Performance Art" were less effectively written, I'd probably be more comfortable with it. I just tend to "become" the characters in your stories, and I've got some personal body issues that kick up here . . . so I have problems with public voyeurism/exhibitionism, but I quite obviously don't have any with the private version. Witness the fact that my first recommendation was "A Little Winter Sunlight," which I have read at least a dozen times and find completely delicious. In public, there are trust issues--which do intrigue me,

Good to hear! I'm really looking forward to revisiting your stories this week (and discovering any I've missed, which has turned out to be a lovely side effect of this!) . . . although I guess I really do have to finish those income tax forms first. Drat! Fortunately, we get Friday off . . .
