Noone is ever going to be Beau. Ever. This guy sounds very sweet (removing the $$ aspect of it all..) and someone to keep around because he's a good friend to you. And it sounds like a two way street - especially re: Thanksgiving. You are giving him experiences he hadn't had in life, and that is so healing.
Its pretty clear you aren't ready for anything more right now (and understandably so) - could that be why you are lukewarm about him? You just cant put your heart into it?
If you need to step back from the physical stuff, do it. You are not obligated to do anything. He knows where you are, and what you're willing to give right now. Period. I for one think you are a wonderful person and am not shocked that someone wants to do nice things for you.
